SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 29, 2005 -- Securing toys for deserving children is the order of the day for a number of Fatburger restaurants in California and Nevada that have joined forces with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program to become collection sites for unwrapped toys this holiday gift-giving season.
"Unfortunately, there are many children in our local communities who won't receive a single gift this season," said Elaine Patel, vice president of marketing, Fatburger North America, Inc. "That's why we are asking our customers to please help by donating new, unwrapped toys valued at $10 or more. Toys suitable for teens are especially needed. We appreciate their generosity."
Special collection barrels will be in place in the restaurants over the next few days. Reservists will periodically pick up the toys for distribution by local charitable organizations to needy kids residing in the community. As the last opportunity to drop off toys will be mid-December to ensure that the gifts are received by the holidays, interested customers are urged to bring in their contributions prior to that time.
